procrastination

I finally bought plane ticket back to Indiana TWO days in advance. The tickets were the same price as when I was supposed to buy them two weeks ago, so I still haven't learned my lesson.

procrastination because I am less then excited to go back for these reasons:
-so cold
-HAVE to get a job no matter what it is
-no puppies

here is a list of reasons I'll be glad to be back, once I get there:
-Adams.
-class is starting again soon.
-alley bar.

movie review

yesterday I watched "Julie and Julia". I found it both annoying and angering. First Julie's husband convinces her to start a blog about her endeavor to cook all the recipes in Julia Child's cookbook,"Mastering the Art of French Cooking" because she is annoying him with all her," I don't have a purpose in life".
But then he gets mad and leaves because she gets really in to it and it is taking too much time away from their sex life, but all the while he is stuffing his face with all the awesome dinners she is making him.
Also I have always hated when grownups say "yum" or worse "yummy".
Also Julie is unable to boil a lobster and has her husband do it for her-if you are gonna eat a lobster you should be forced to kill it. Even I have done that- before my vegetarian days.
Also they finally have sex to the sound of a million editors offering her book deals on the answering machine- is that how it happens? some editor just calls your house? who has a home answering machine? wouldn't they just email her?

I did like the parts about Julia Child- I wish the whole movie was about her, and I was delighted when you find out Julia Child did not think much about Julie's project, although it is pretty cool she had a year long project and accomplished it... but the only reason Julie is interesting is because she has a movie made about her, so why did she have a movie made about her, if she wasn't interesting until the movie was made about her?- the ol' Catch 22.

leafed out

a productive but unsatisfying day of raking 4 yards. unsatisfying because even after hours of raking a yard its never totally leafless, it just has less leaves then before.
raking put me in kind of a bad mood, although getting a check cheered me up. Trying to rally because Adams is taking me out to my favorite bar ( alley bar) and one of our favorite restaurants (Roots).

cookie time

tried out a vegan gingerbread recipe
that turned out well. I think next time I'll roll the cookies out thinner. The second batch had to be thrown out for these three possible reasons:
1. I ran out of sugar, so i used about 1/3 of what the recipe calls for..
2. I tried using apple sauce instead of oil to make it a little healthier...
3. I put in a DASH of turmeric because I saw it was one of the ingredients in soy nog and I thought it would add a certain "je ne sais qoui..." instead it was je ne sais bleaawwwhg.

I was looking forward to checking out the 5th sookie stackhouse book to read tonite, but all the copies are on hold for until forever.

lazy sunday

trip out of town to go Christmas antique shopping with Adams, Neil and Keira. I got a heart shaped cookie cutter and a bow tie to use as a hair clip. Adams got Christmas lights, Keira got a plaid shirt, and Neil got a hat. I really like this embroidered cat.

i xo christmas!

waiting for it to be time to go to David's. we didn't get a tree because out house is xtreamly too small, so i decorated this twig with the gift tags I made during thanksgiving.
today made second round of Christmas cards. I proley wouldn't have made them except for Adams excitement and insistence and he woke me up at 6AM to get a start on them so I could give them to everyone at David's party. (He's very encouraging). The most exciting part was realizing I already have 20 people I consider friends to give them to.

cold and getting colder

today had final crits for print class. so long and unhelpful and in which I re-remember that it really only matters if you are personally happy with your work. its so annoying to talk about work you're not happy about, but maybe good because it maybe clarifies what you WISHED it looked like.
here is a photo of Yogis which is the sports bar right by our house. It is kind of place where you can order a bunch of shots delivered on a ski ( a shotski). Its kinda awful there but we end up going there a lot because its right by school and close to home and has booths and is comfortable and they ASSUME you want your bill divided up 5 ways

pictures of the snowyness ( that shorter building in the foreground is the print studio)

today after class I wrote christmas cards and Adams took me out to Thai and then we watched charlie brown christmas and were supposed to go back to school but didn't.
the excitement and talk of the town is Rachel and David's dress up christmas dinner tomorrow. EVERYONE is going.
